On October 30th, 2016 a grand event for athletes takes place. Located just 20 miles to the northeast of Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo will take visitors back to a historic time as ancient buildings and architecture surround the small town. And an estuary with an endless variety of colorful birds and wildlife that will make you feel like you’re in another world.
IRONMAN Los Cabos, offers 40 qualifying spots to athletes. It begins with a 2.4-mile swim in the azure blue waters of the Sea of Cortes. They'll then bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles along a 20-mile corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, where views of rugged cliffs, deserts and mountains make the race unmistakably unique. This is a once in a lifetime experience both for the athletes and spectators. You’ll be sure to not want to miss this fun event.
Due to this event the following streets will be closed on Sunday October 30th during the following times:
Main access to Palmilla will be closed from 5:30am to 9:30am.
From 5:30am to 5:30 pm, Valerio Gonzalez and Trans-peninsular Highway (from Valerio Gonzalez to San Lucas Traffic light). Only one side of the road will be closed, beach side road will be open and vehicles will travel both ways.
From 6:00am to 5:00pm, Beltway/Bypass to airport.
From 5:30am to 12:00 Midnight, Antonio Mijares Blvd (both ways).
San Jose Ave (one side of the road will be closed).
Los Cabos Ave (both ways towards Fonatur).
Los Cabos Port (starting at the bridge and finishing at the Well).
Highway Lanes will reopen after these times.
Please note road closure may cause heavy traffic and delays, if you have an activity or departure schedules for Sunday you may want to consider leaving 45 minutes - one hour earlier. We advise you plan your activities accordingly.
